Laser Cutting
In The Hub we have a BossLaser LS-2440 CO2 Laser Cutter and Engraver.
A laser cutter allows makers to cut, engrave or mark a variety of different materials based on a design created in a special software program (i.e. Lightburn).
Who can use the laser cutter?
Please see a HubTech or Hub faculty member for assistance with the laser cutter. The laser cutter should never be used without a HubTech or Hub faculty member.
What materials can be laser cut?
Users should provide their own materials to be cut or engraved. The laser cutter can cut wood, acrylic, foam, and cardboard. It can engrave on wood or on laser-able metals (metals that have a coating that the laser removes). Here is a complete list of materials that can be used.
